IUPAC Periodic Table Challenge 2020

To celebrate the International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements (IYPT2019) and the IUPAC centenary, in 2019 we hosted an online challenge about the Periodic Table of the Elements aimed at a global audience of young students. We reached thousands of players from 136 countries and every continent, including Antarctica.

Following the success of the 2019, we are now offering a new and expanded IUPAC Periodic Table Challenge and we invite everyone to join! While the individual players are recognized with IUPAC Certificate, the most active Schools/Institutions will be chosen to receive a limited edition Periodic Table autographed by a Nobel Laureate in Chemistry!

The IUPAC Periodic Table Challenge will present you with 10 randomly chosen multiple-choice questions about the elements. To play, you will be asked to choose the difficulty level and an element as avatar. You will be asked to provide your name and email so we can keep track of your achievements. Your score will go towards this element in the leaderboard and the avatars will show up on the world map based on the geolocation of your internet provider.

Schools, Institutions, or Organizations may wish to participate in the Periodic Table challenge. The most active schools/institutions will be chosen to receive an IUPAC Periodic Table of the Elements poster signed by a chemistry Nobel Laureate! This was kindly made possible by 13 chemistry Nobel laureates.

The Challenge is in English and if you have difficulties in understanding some of the questions, please copy the text and use online translation tools to help. This Challenge and its components are offered for informational purposes only. The information (name and city) you provide will appear on the Certificate if you score 60 % or above.
